 Pacific's Pre Season:

We opened out season with our annual alumni game.  We started the game with at least 9 guys who had never played a game in their life except for at practice and we ran 14 freshmen on the roster.  We played well and against a seasoned and skilled alumni team we came up with an 11-4 learning experience.  Goals came from Veterans Russ Masuda and Jordan Gayton and Rookies Josh Chipponeri and Cole Hansen.  The pizza party afterwards was fun, and thank you to all the alumni who attended and donated their time, bodies and money to support the team!

After a great alumni game, the team had a few weeks to practice and learn from the first game that half of the team had ever played.  We came into the game with Dominican expecting a game we could be competitive in, by our surprise they have greatly improved since last year and surprised us in the 1st quarter to take the lead and out hustle us in ground balls by almost double.  From there on out the game seemed pretty even on the field except for our lack of scoring.  Our goals came from Rookie Josh Chipponeri and Returning Senior (1 year on team) Ryan Forrester.  It was a great learning experience and a huge help to our rookies before we headed of to the St. Mary's Tournament 2 weeks later.

At St. Mary's we had scheduled the only Division B team we would play as our first game, this would turn out to have been a great plan.  We went into the game hyped up after a good warm up and pre game talk.  It was a very evenly matched game against San Jose State.  With the penalties we were able to net 2 goals from Rookie Cole Hansen and Junior Russ Masuda.  San Jose ST was down by 1 with 2 minutes left in the game, and we were on man down defense.  Electing to play it a "Mad Dog" defense to try and hold SJ State of and force a turnover in the last few minutes proved to be a success  Our defense lead by monstrous sophomore Jay Stier, freshmen Jeff Neuenburg and Connor Halberg forced the turnover we needed and ended the game with the lead in an unsettled situation.

We played our next games versus Un. Nevada Reno and Un. California, Berkeley B squad.  We played pretty well, and battled to the end in each game enjoying our 20+ man roster.  We again succumbed to the lack of scoring but our defense and goal tending were amazing.  It will be a great thing for regular season to have such a shut down defense and our scoring is starting to turn around.  We have high hopes for this season and are excited to show case our largest team in 5 years along with our youngest with 11 freshman and 6 sophomores.

See you all in February, March and April, please check out our Schedule for game times and locations.
